About Linda Askan and Diane Halsey:

Linda 'Cactus Flower' Askan is a native of Santa Clara Pueblo. She is Pueblo and Navajo Indian, the daughter of Marie and Andy Askan. She has three brothers and one sister, Birdell Bourdon, who is a Santa Clara potter. Linda graduated from Espanola High School and attended the Institute of American Indian Arts. She worked as a respiratory therapy technician in local hospitals before becoming a full-time potter more than fifteen years ago. Having grown up with pottery making, Linda now teaches her daughters, Diane and Rose Halsey, the tradition of black and red pottery. Linda's grandparents were Felix and Adelaide (Lala) Sisneros and her aunt, Earlene Youngbird Tafoya, is also a potter whose work is represented in the Case Trading Post.
