CS 2734 Computer Organization II

Grading Policy, Spring 2000

Factors Determining Grade (with percentages)
1. Laboratories (14, none dropped): 15% (1.0714285714285...% each)
2. Lab Quizzes (11, 2 lowest droped): 15% (1.66666...% each)
3. Two in-class exams (no make-ups): 35% (17.5% each)
4. Final exam (comprehensive): 25%
5. Attendance (43, only 40 required): 10% (0.25% each)
Notes:
  1. Each laboratory is described on a separate web page. All labs will be counted for credit. (See Lectures and Assignments.)

  2. There are 12 lab quizzes. The two lowest will be discarded, so that only 10 will count. There will be no make-up quizzes, so you should be careful about missing a lab quiz. (See Lectures and Assignments.)

  3. Seating for exams will be assigned, either alphabetic or reverse alphabetic order. In general I don't give makeup exams, but just count the other course elements for greater credit.

  4. The final exam will be comprehensive, with slightly greater emphasis on material after the second exam.

  5. Credit for attendance will be given just as a percentage of the 43 classes attended. I will allow 3 misses without penalty, so attending 40 classes (including exams) will give you full credit for this part. However, you should not waste these two free misses, since I will not be considering excused absenses.

In order to facilitate attendance taking, I ask that you choose a fixed seat early in the semester and stick with that location. (Most people do this anyway.) If you need to alter your seat for some reason, just let me know. "Attending a class" is defined as being present for 80% of the class. (I'll take attendance in the middle of the class.)
