If you are a UTSA CS student, you should first get an account on the CS Sun System, and then create your own personal homepage. (If you already have your own webpage elsewhere, you should still create a CS webpage and at least insert a link to your "real" webpage.) Follow these directions for creating a webpage:
% chmod 0755 public_html
Liven up your web page with interesting material, including pictures
Various UTSA Student Computer Labs have scanners. Ask someone in the lab to help you scan in your favorite picture and convert it to GIF or JPG format. You will need to bring a 3" floppy to save the file and then you can upload it to your Sun account through the file manager. Remember your 10 MB disk space limit and go for small pictures or low resolution.
% chmod 0744 *in the public_html subdirectory to make sure that is the case.
http://www.cs.utsa.edu/~yourlogin/where yourlogin is your Sun account name (usually first initial followed by up to the first 7 characters of your last name).
